The media would have you believe that now is not the time to invest.  However that’s something that we couldn’t disagree with more.  The value and earnings potential of many companies are growing, and due to market conditions these companies are available at unbelievable bargains. Think of it like buying a $100 shirt at a department store.  You could buy the shirt for $100 and have a nice shirt that you paid full price for, or, you could wait for the shirt to go on sale.  If you buy that shirt at a big sale for $30, you still own a $100 shirt…but you only paid $30 for it. Once the sale is over (the stock market gets back to normal) the shirt is $100 again.

Now imagine that shirt was a stock, and you bought 200 of them instead of just 1, because you knew it wouldn’t be on sale for long. You’d profit $70 per share of stock!  If you bought only 200 shares, you’d have a profit of $14,000 just for buying a stock that was “on sale”!  That is how market conditions are now, it’s one big sale.  It’s called “value investing” and it’s how billionaires like Warren Buffet made their money.

There is also a lot of volatility (rapid changes in stock prices) going on right now, which professional traders know is a GOOD thing.  This means you can make money quickly.  In a slow market you may have to wait years to get a 50% return.  In a fast paced volatile market, you may be able to make a return like that in a day or a week.

Volatility also means that if you ever get unlucky and buy a stock that goes down, it very well may quickly go back up, sometimes much higher than it was when you bought it.  The point is now is a GREAT time to invest, and historically could be one of the best times we’ve ever seen to make money quickly.
